Middle East Technical University (METU) is the project coordinator of the “Nutrient Recovery and High-value Fertilizer Production from Biogas Plant Wastes” project. METU is one of the finest research-oriented higher education institutions in Turkey. Owing to the quality academic education as well as accomplished and qualified METU graduates, METU has become one of the distinguished and respectable institutions of Turkey, ranking in (601–800th) in World University Rankings 2019, and (71- 80th) in World Reputation Rankings 2014. The Department of Environmental Engineering (DEE) in METU has been conducting research projects on water and wastewater treatment, soil and groundwater remediation, air pollution control, environmental biotechnology and environmental management and other related topics. METU DEE has more than 10 research and teaching laboratories including but not limited to Anaerobic Biotechnology Laboratory, Unit Operations Laboratory, Contaminant Hydrology Laboratory and Environmental Microbiology Laboratories.
The Bioprocess Engineering Research Group (BIOERG) at METU focuses on bioenergy research trying to address problems pertaining to energy and environment. They develop efficient biological and bio-electrochemical processes for sustainable wastewater management, biofuel production and value-added product generation and utilize fundamental bioprocess engineering tools to come up with solutions to the overarching problems of the 21st century. BIOERG has 8 researchers (7 graduate students and 1 post-doctoral researcher) actively conducting research under the supervision of Dr. Yilmazel Tokel.

The School of Water, Energy and Environment (SWEE) at of CU has three themes of world-leading expertise in research, consultancy and training for the Water Energy and the Environment. They have crosscutting expertise working directly with the water and waste management sector with a track-record built on teaching, research and sector short courses for more than 30 years. Cranfield has won the Queen's Anniversary Prize – awarded in 2017 for research and education in large-scale soil and environmental data for the sustainable use of natural resources in the UK and worldwide – is the first time in the Prize’s history that an award has been given for soil science. CU is ranked in the top ten in the UK for commercial research, consultancy and professional development.

GTE Sustainability Consultancy Company Turkey
GTE Carbon Sustainability and Energy Consultancy Co., based in Ankara, Turkey, is an engineering and consultancy firm which was established in 2008. GTE has extensive local expertise and interdisciplinary experience in resource efficiency, climate change mitigation/adaptation, and circular economy, at the corporate-, industry- and city-levels. GTE has been involved in a large number of energy, water and material efficiency projects as well as industrial symbiosis in numerous sectors. It is also amongst firms that have highest carbon project portfolios in Turkey. It has worked with +80 institutions from different sectors (e.g. public/private institutions, NGOs) in +100 projects.
Recent works delivered by GTE involves developing/managing supply chain sustainability programs and providing circularity opportunities for a range of sectors including automotive, construction, textile, chemical, plastics, food, metal processing, iron&steel and paper. GTE has significant expertise in working with a range of clients /partners including multilateral development banks (e.g. The World Bank Group, EBRD), municipalities, government agencies, private sector, universities and NGOs.
In a nutshell GTE has developed competency in four areas which include;
Resource efficiency assessments including water/wastewater audits, industrial waste minimization/ recycling, industrial symbiosis, eco-industrial parks, cleaner/sustainable production projects in numerous sectors
Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs and SECAPs), GHG Inventory, Water Footprint Assessment and Climate Change action plan for cities
Carbon & Renewable Energy Certification and trading, reporting schemes including Carbon and Water footprint, CDP and MRV regulations
Climate Services including Climate Change Adaptation and climate risk assessments
